Rod and reel
Fly fishing for salmon:
8-10 ft single-handed rod, Teeny Line 130-300gm or a normal fast sink tip line #WF 8-10. Leader: 0.35-0.50mm. Reel with strong drag and 100m of backing.
Spinning for salmon: 1.8-3.0m rod with casting weight upwards of 40gm. Reel with strong drag (extra spool), 150m of 0.35-0.50 line.
Fly fishing for trout, lake trout and pike: 8-10 ft single-handed rod, floating and sinking fly-line #WF6-8 with 50m backing. Leader: 0.14-0.35mm.
Spinning for trout, lake trout and pike: 1.8-2.4m single-handed rod with a casting weight of 5-20gm. 100m of 0.18-0.30mm line on a reel with check. Leader: 0.14-0.35mm, and steel leaders.

Dalton Trail Lodge has a small but well-stocked shop where you can purchase reasonably priced fishing tackle. This includes the best artificial flies for the Yukon as well as an extensive range of lures and other angling accessories. Dalton Trail Lodge also enables you to hire rods and reels, etc.

Entry formalities
You will have no difficulty entering Canada. Upon entering Canada, you will be asked to show your valid passport. Citizens of the EU can enter Canada with a passport valid for over six months after the end of your visit, and no visa is required. You must have sufficient funds for your stay in the country and for your return home (return flight ticket). No vaccinations are needed.
Clothing
Temperatures can climb to 30° C in Northern Canada during June, July and August. In September and October the nights can be cold. Bring casual clothing. Jeans, sweaters and a jacket are all you need even for the cooler days. Please don’t forget rainwear.
Important reminder
Only single barbless hooks are permitted in the Yukon.
