Week 36 - 2009

We had another eventful week and are happy to welcome two new members to our Trophy Club. Fritz and Maximilian Kurfuerst caught a total of five Trophy Pike. Congratulations to both of you and well done! Pike fishing for Trophies has been incredible this year, we have never caught this many big ones. After having received good reports of the Silver Salmon we did the first fly out trip to the coast of Alaska. We had a great time and everybody limited out without any problems at all. There were good numbers of Silvers in the rivers and we even hooked a few on dry flies. The weather was awesome too, no rain and pure sunshine which is quite unusual for down there. So it is looking very promising for the next couple of trips. It is looking like a good run, certainly a lot better than the last two years. The small game hunting opened on September 1st and we did successful trips for Grouse and Ptarmigan. Cooking these very tasty birds in the wilderness is another great experience. Fishing for Grayling was fantastic and we had many fish very close to the trophy mark. On one trip we did some exploring and found beautiful stretches of water, barely untouched and perfect for fly fishing. It is quite a thrill to fish were probably nobody else has fished before! Lake Trout fishing in the rivers was great with the peak time yet to come. So everything is looking good for the rest of the season. The weather was much better than the last two weeks, we had quite a few sunny days and no rain. With only one windy day; it was a calm week. All in all a great week!
